Alongside updates and announcements on the Viewbook Blog, we launched a constantly updating ‘digital sketchbook’ on v3.viewbook.com. Managed by everyone within the design and development team, it captures moments within the development process in sketches, sneak previews, animations, quotes, thoughts, tweets, photos etc. around the development of the new portfolio website builder. Sometimes very legible, sometimes very in-depth; a quite spontaneous heap of different pieces of information, mirroring how V3 evolves.
We hope it will give you a nice insight in all aspects of this big project and what you can expect from V3. We keep a sharp eye on all your comments within the Blog, Twitter and Facebook, and select & publish these bits that inspire us most!

Great work. Looks inspiring. I like the new and clean transitions between images, as just one example. Don’t know if it was mentioned in the overview but It would be nice if it was possible too to put a soundfile underneath a ‘slideshow’, a la soundslides.Of course, such a slideshow could be made as a videofile too and then uploaded separately but it would be more of a direct presentation experience if a sound-file would play directly when viewing a viewbook slideshow.

I am wondering what we will have to do to convert our old, and much worked on sites to the new V3? Is it going to keep our galleries? Will we be left to start from scratch?? I like all the new buttons, and options.. But I am worried it will be come more or less like cargo, or other content management systems.. Word Press, ect..
The worry is that it will become so complicated that I will get stuck in the middle of a mod, and never getting it fixed, my cargo, word press, and others are all being abandoned because of this..
So far I am still stoked, hope that these issues were taken into consideration.
Cheers,
ajay fay

Thanks all! @Philip Yes we plan to enable sound within albums in the future.
@Ajaj We’ll make the transition to V3 as smooth as possible, so you won’t have to rebuild anything. You will be able to switch it to V3 and the new options will become available. I understand your worries about complexity, but no worries, V3 will be simpler to use than the current version. At the same time, if you want to create something specific, it will give you the options. That’s our challenge.

Wow, can’t wait for V3. It looks years ahead of Livebooks, Click Booq, FolioLink, Behance, or Krop. The only one that seems close is APhotoFolio.
I especially love one little detail that viewbook gets right that none of the other flash sites does: livebook transitions from one image to the next quickly because livebook preloads the next image while you’re viewing the current one. I hate that short loading delay on all the others.
I’ve been playing with the trial version of viewbook, and so far everything looks and works great, especially the full page image image view. I’m able to do 85-90% of what I want to do with my portfolio. The remaining 10-15% is all spacing and sizing and CSS details that I hope are changable in V3.
The last update was a month ago. It’s now late August. Can you give us a new update on where V3 is and when it might be available? Thanks again!!

Can’t wait! I would love to see an embedded video option. Something we could load to a personal FTP to avoid over branded graphics from Vimeo, YouTube, etc.
I’d pay extra! Just saying….
Good luck!

Hey guys,
I have a question. I want to buy this Pro Version from V2. Is it possible to get automatically without any other cost the newer version V3, like an update or something? Or should I wait till V3 is ready to use and buy it then?
sorry for my english, hope you understand ;)
all the best,
lina
