Much Faster Image Load Times with Viewbook

By Rien | January 15th, 2009 | 1 Comment

As of today Viewbook implemented a service that makes your images load much faster. This service, a so called content delivery network, is a collection of web servers distributed across multiple locations worldwide to deliver content more efficiently. Requests for Viewbook images are automatically routed to the nearest location, so content is delivered with the best possible performance. Your images are now being served from 14 locations worldwide. How’s that!

United States
Ashburn VA, Dallas/Fort Worth TX, Los Angeles CA, Miami FL, Newark NJ, Palo Alto CA, Seattle WA, St. Louis MO

Europe
Amsterdam, Dublin, Frankfurt, London

Asia
Hong Kong, Tokyo

Note: When you check the speed improvement be sure to check it twice. The first request to your images is always served from the original source and then it’s being cached on one of the servers at a location near you. Also be sure to empty your browser cache when testing.
